The AMA is done. What now?

You’ve done it - they were ready and you added them to your approved submitters list, they posted with a great title and intro, they understood how to answer questions and did so, and they are finishing up. Congrats on hosting an AMA!

Ending an AMA

As shown in the sample guide, make sure they know how to edit the post, thank everyone, and save so the community knows the AMA has ended.

Following up with the participant

Did everything go as planned?

  • Great - congratulate them and encourage them to come back in the future.

Did things not go well?

  • What went wrong?
  • Work with your mod team to look at how you can improve your process to help things go more smoothly for participants and the subreddit in the future.
  • Reach out to the participant and thank them.
    • you might discuss with them how a future AMA could be improved and encourage them to try again at a later date, if there is a reason to believe things could go better in the future.

Whatever the outcome of your first AMA hosting, you and your mod team have likely learned a lot from the experience and should be ready to continue bringing awesome guests and new community members into your subreddit in the future. Thank you for contributing to the site!
