NOTE: This article is intended only for clients still using our legacy self-serve platform.
Every ad is reviewed by a human at Reddit. Here's how it works:
- You create your ad, select targeting, and submit payment.
- Upon submitting payment, your ad enters our review process and is awaiting approval.
- Your ad will be reviewed within one business day.
See the Content Guidelines for criteria in reviewing ads.
The background color of the ad unit, as viewed from your ads homepage or the ad's edit page, reflects the phase of ad review:
Unpaid or Waiting Approval - Yellow
Approved - Green
Rejected - Red
Live - Blue
Completed - Gray
Once your ad has been accepted by the Reddit team, you're all set until your ad launches! You'll receive an email notification to the email address associated with your Reddit username that your ad has been approved. You will also receive follow-up emails once your ad has been launched on the site and completed.
If you edit your ad creative after it has been approved, your ad will revert to "waiting approval" and go through the review process again. Keep this in mind if you make last-minute changes to your ad.
Please refer to your rejection email for the explanation on why your ad was not approved. If you want to amend your ad to align with Reddit ads policies, you can edit and resubmit for review. If you have any further questions, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Ads which are rejected will not see a capture of the authorized payment. A card is only charged if the ad is approved. If your ad has been rejected, and if you do not resubmit for approval, you will see an automatic return of the authorized amount within 24-48 business hours.
